Farmers at roadblocks awaiting outcome of meeting

AMNA--Farmers with their tractors remain at their roadblocks throughout Greece awaiting the outcome of Prime Minister Antonis Samaras' meeting with Agriculture Minister Athanassios Tsaftaris and Alternate Agriculture Minister Maximos Harakopoulos on Friday morning.

"We will wait for the result of the meeting and we will act accordingly," Imathia farmers' movement vice-president Costas Lioliopoulos told AMNA.

Imathia farmers have set up a roadblock at the Kouloura interchange on Highway, while farmers from the prefectures of Pella and Pieria are joining them, but traffic has not been disrupted.

Thessaly region farmers also remain at their roadblock at Nikaia interchange on the Athens- Thessaloniki old national highway.

In Serres prefecture, the farmers decided to set up a joint mobilisations front.

In Drama, Kavala and Xanthi prefectures the farmers have lined up their tractors at Chryssoupoli on the Drama-Kavala national highway.

The same climate prevails in the prefectures of Evros and Rodopi.
