Union reacts to Chrysi Avgi press conference demands

Greece’s journalists’ union on Tuesday accused the far-right Chrysi Avgi (Golden Dawn) party of intimidating reporters.

During a press conference on Sunday, a few hours after an election that saw the party enter Parliament, local and foreign journalists were ordered to stand up as party leader Nikos Michaloliakos entered the room or exit the building.

“The Greek Federation of Journalists (POESY) warns Hitler nostalgics and especially the ‘brave boys in black T-shirts’ that no journalist will be coerced, threatened or above all terrorized,” a union statement said on Tuesday.

Gosh! All those times I had to stand when my primary school teacher walked in, I never realised I was being coerced, threatened or above all terrorised!
